I am excited about Melissa and John’s August Wedding at Coyote Ranch, San Jose. Melissa has impressed me during the wedding planning process because she is humble, resourceful and detailed-oriented. I wouldn’t be surprised if she became a wedding coordinator after the wedding. John, supports her with his patient, passive and easy going demeanor. They are great together!

1. How and when did you meet?

M: I met John on a blind date. A friend at work was talking about her single roommate who is also her husband’s best friend and then a few girls at work started trying to set us up. It took a couple weeks to happen but it eventually did. Our first date (blind date) was at Aqui’s restaurant in January 2014 and the rest is history!

J: I first met Melissa through a mutual friend who set us up on a blind date. We went to a restaurant where we got to know each other and after the date we didn’t think it would work, so we both went our separate ways. After a week, I decided to give it another shot and I’m glad I did because I get to marry my best friend, true love and get to spend the rest of our lives together.

2. Describe how he proposed?

M: I woke up one morning, and I started making breakfast, I noticed it was too quiet and started looking for John but he was nowhere to be found. I then saw a hand written note on the kitchen table which left directions to a scavenger hunt for me. I finished making breakfast, got ready and started the hunt! The scavenger hunt led me to meaningful places throughout our relationship and the last one was at the beach in which John met my daughter for the first time. I found him at the end of the sandy beach on one knee.

J: I left a note for her to find on the kitchen counter, which instructed a little adventure for her. She was to go around town, using an app that scans QR codes which led her to different locations that we both experienced great memories at. Each place had a significant experience, such as our first kiss, when we first said, “I love you,” all which eventually led her to the beach when I first met my daughter. I was standing there with ring in hand and got on one knee. I couldn’t say everything I planned out because I was so nervous, she knew what I wanted to say and said “yes.”

3. How are you feeling as your wedding is drawing near? How many days left?

M: I am feeling excited, anxious, emotional, but mostly I am overwhelmed with love and happiness. I have had so much support from my family, friends and bridal party and it makes me so very happy. This has been one of the most exciting years of my life!

J: I’m feeling more and more excited as the day approaches and can’t wait for all of our family to witness this magical event. There are currently 60 days left and it felt like the year has gone by so fast since I proposed but looking forward to it.

4. What are you most nervous about?

M: I think I am most nervous about timing; we are on a tight time crunch to get everything set up for the wedding and also to fit all of the wedding activities into such a short window.

J: There aren’t so much nerves that I can think of right now. If anything, maybe the weather, but no matter what… rain or shine, we are getting married and that’s what matters most.

5. What are you most excited about?

M: I am most excited about our vows, all of the dancing, laughter, speeches and mostly our honeymoon!

J: I’m excited for all of our family to come together and witness the union of our two families. I’m also excited to marry my best friend and I’m super excited for our honeymoon.

6. What vision and/or theme do you have for your wedding day?

M: My vision is to have a very relaxed fun outdoorsy ranch wedding. Romantic and rustic is the theme. I have never liked the uptight sophisticated weddings, and I want people to really enjoy themselves and let loose.

J: Our wedding is all outdoors at a ranch, so it’s a rustic theme and look, that I know will be absolutely beautiful when all is set up.

7. Why have you hired “Ah…New Beginnings”? What do you like about Arlene?

M: I have hired Ah …New beginnings because after our initial phone conference call, I knew she was the one. It felt like we were friends after our call, I felt so comfortable with her. I knew we were in good hands from her comforting tone, reassurance, referrals, typed out detailed timelines and lightning speed replies… I knew I could count on her to make my wedding the best day ever! I love how I can text or email Arlene and I know for certain she will reply super fast. It seems she has all the answers to everything I have ever asked. She gave me referrals to my florist, makeup artist, engagement picture location in which I hired all of the referrals.

J: Melissa is a Yelp fanatic/user and found Arlene on yelp. Since the beginning we’ve had a very pleasant experience with Arlene from inviting us into her lovely home and being there for us every step of the way.

8. What do you hope to accomplish with “Ah…New Beginnings’ as your wedding coordinator?

M: I hope to have accomplished a very smooth flow on our wedding day. I hope to get in all our activities that we have planned but most of all I hope our guests have an amazing time and they don’t see any hiccups that may occur. I hope they can talk about how wonderful our wedding was for years to come. I know there are going to be hiccups, I have accepted that, but not letting guests or I witness or know about them is crucial. I hope Arlene and her team can really pull off the time crunch we are against as it relates to set up.

J: We hope to accomplish a detailed structure of how our wedding day is going to be scheduled out and make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
